Former US President George W. Bush’s oil paintings are going under the hammer next month but are expected to fall short of fellow artistic despots.
Adolf Hitler’s watercolour paintings will be auctioned in Germany next week expecting to fetch between $1,128 and $50,700. The art world is predicting George W. Bush’s pieces will struggle to reach that mark.
Opinions are split over the reasons suppressing the value of Bush’s oil paintings in the genre of tyrannical ruler artistry. Some experts say despite Bush’s attempts at reaching the repressive heights of other historic demagogues, the estimated death count of 100,000 Iraq War civilian deaths and an extensive secretive torture campaign against mostly innocent people, just hasn’t been enough to secure a higher asking price.
Other experts argue that his paintings are simply substandard.
Former US Vice President Dick Cheney has also been encouraged to take up the paintbrush, who is expected to fetch a much higher asking price for his works being one of the major architects of the invasion of Iraq and torture programs.
Sources have confirmed Cheney, like Bush, has an uncanny affinity for the oils.
