The Tokyo metropolitan government has banned the use of drones in parks following the recent incident of a drone carrying radioactive cesium discovered on the Prime Minister’s office.
The government is also set to ban throwing in parks with throwing actions being capable of releasing dangerous flying projectiles. A large portion of the population has solid throwing arms with baseball being the most popular sport in Japan.
The federal government meanwhile is set to expand flying in the capital with the introduction of CV-22 Ospreys to the Yokota Air Base in Tokyo from 2017 – an aircraft that has been a source of controversy involved in many accidents in Okinawa.
The government has assured the local people that if an Osprey crashes in Tokyo they will likely not feel the collision like they would a drone, but they would die on impact.
