PM Abe injured his left hand index finger during a parliamentary speech today, falling awkwardly while trying a revised version of one of his favourite finger point moves.
Abe reassured sitting Members of Parliament he would be back to complete the security legislation speech after medical treatment, but returned to find no one but long time ally and Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso.
Aso remains a rare supporter of Abe’s constitutional revision plans but become slightly annoyed having to wait almost three hours for Abe’s return.
“I believe it was the right thing to do – to mend the index finger and return to the floor to complete the speech. But how long does it take to mend a broken fingernail?” Aso said.
“By the time he came back I’d almost masterminded my fourth arrow.”
