An unidentified man was spotted in Tokyo today traveling on an outbound train suspected of wearing a construction worker uniform to avoid paying upwards of 800 yen (US$6.61).
The crafty move caught ticket inspectors off guard who usually work on a policy of unequivocal trust.
“We trust people to the extent that even if commuters walk through closed barriers with lights flashing we assume they have a good reason,” said one Metro station master.
Stations across Japan have been put on high alert and are calling on the public to report all shifty looking construction workers.
