A commuter has removed almost every item of clothing before entering a train carriage this morning on the Chuo-Sobu Line.
“I essentially have to get naked in near freezing temperatures before riding on public transport,” says 5-years-a-gaijin Ryan Walsh.
Walsh removed four layers of clothing, leaving only his underwear on before squeezing into a crowded train.
“I go from ‘samui ne’ to ‘atsui ne’ in a matter of milliseconds,” said Walsh.
“If I don’t take off my clothes there’s a very high chance I could pass out from heat exhaustion and fall over onto other people – either way I’ll be labelled a chikan.”
Walsh was careful to take off all his clothes before stepping over the yellow line.
