A news conference held by Miyazaki Prefectural government officials descended into anarchy yesterday after the truth escaped from a carefully regulated briefing.
“It was in a tightly controlled environment but we couldn’t keep a lid on it – we’re still unsure how it managed to flee,” said Miyazaki Prefecture government spokesman Hirota Takeyama.
“We believe the truth may have found its way into a journalist’s conscience who inadvertently became a carrier.”
The press conference room was sprayed with pesticide as a precaution, with all reporters and journalists still present.
