A man renting in Chiba Prefecture has been whacked with an extra fee for renewing his apartment contract.
“I had to pay another whole months’ worth of rent just to stay in the apartment,” says Chris Wallace.
“I definitively didn’t factor this into my English teaching salary.”
Wallace considered moving apartments to take a moral stance against the injustice, however he would’ve had to pay for removalists, key money, cleaning fees, and several other apartment departure fees.
“I guess I’ll just have to take up that weekend gig teaching Japanese preschoolers.”
