The learning-reading-of-紅葉 season has begun in Japan.
The season is an annual phenomenon for non-native speakers of the Japanese language.
“It’s that time of year again,” says 9-years-a-gaijin Laura Blight.
“I learnt how to say 紅葉 again last year, but forgot it by winter.”
Most foreigners want to say “kouba” when they see the 葉 kanji, however the correct reading is “kouyou”.
“Baka gaijin,” says local man Shinjiro Kuwafuji.
Japan will begin learning-reading-of-お正月 season later next month.
