A foreigner sporting traditional Japanese attire has waltzed around a local festival as if he were part of the whole attraction.
2-years-a-gaijin Kevin McNamara says he didn’t want to wear a yukata but thought he should show appreciation for local traditions.
“I’m just giving the people what they want,” says McNamara.
“A chotto bit of bonus entertainment – and it’s muryou.”
McNamara says the locals can “forget about the chocolate bananas” because “Kevin-san has kimashita in a yukata”.
McNamara’s presence ultimately made no difference to chocolate banana sales.
