A foreigner teaching English in Tokyo for the past 10 years is refusing to go home, blaming an acute addiction to “Japanese culture”.
“I’m struggling to see how I could survive without limited access to all the beautiful Japanese culture,” says single man Gavin Gibbons.
“There’s the kimono, sumo, the people are polite, and kimono – I love kimono.”
“Oh yeah, and the food, there’s the food too.”
Gibbons has been single, on and off, for the past decade.
“I tried weening myself off the culture but I keep coming back to it – I just can’t see myself enjoying Western culture anymore.”
Gibbons probably couldn’t get any decent Western culture if he did go home.
